Graduated from the Complutense
University of Madrid (UCM), with a M.S in Pharmacy and obtaining
the extraordinary award of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Pharmaceutical
Specialist in Industrial Pharmacy and Galenic,
and in Analysis and Control of Medicines and Drugs. Dr. Torres-Suárez
obtained her PhD degree in Pharmacy with a work
on pharmaceutical development of new formulations of antitumour
drugs, receiving the PhD extraordinary award. She is lecturer of
Pharmaceutical Technology; coordinator of the
postgraduate course Targeting and controlled release of drugs for
parenteral administration: polymeric systems and
nanomedicines; and chairman of the annual workshop on Pharmaceutical
Technology, Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics in the Faculty of
Pharmacy of the UCM. She is also lecturer of
Pharmaceutical Technology in the Master on Pharmaceutical Sciences of the
University del Valle of Guatemala and she was named Visiting Professor of
the Peruvian University Cayetano Heredia. She is
currently the Headmistress of the Institute of Industrial Pharmacy of the
UCM, with more than 30 collaborative projects
with the pharmaceutical industry. Her current research interest is the
pharmaceutical development of micro and nanomedicines for sustained
drug delivery and drug targeting, being
author of more than 130 manuscripts and abstracts on this matter. She is
founder member of the Spanish-Portuguese Local Chapter of the Controlled
Release Society, and treasurer of the Spanish Society
of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology.
